Inner Authority

Choosing Peace When the World Feels Unsteady

We are living in a moment that feels heavy.

There are protests in the streets.
There are arrests, violence, and innocent people being hurt.
Many are grieving. Many are angry. Many are afraid.
Some are exhausted from carrying it all. Others feel the fire rising inside them.

None of this is abstract.
It is personal. It is painful. It is real.

In moments like this, the pressure to react can be overwhelming.
To move quickly.
To speak loudly.
To brace ourselves for what might come next.

Lately, I have been sitting with a different question.
How do we stay anchored when the world feels unsteady?

Fear has a way of pulling us out of ourselves.
It pushes us toward control, urgency, and reaction.
It convinces us that if we do not grip harder, everything will fall apart.

I know that instinct well.
Control has often felt like responsibility.
Like leadership.
Like faith.

But in this season, and especially in this moment, God has been gently redirecting me.

Not away from truth.
Not away from action.
But toward order inside first.

He has been reminding me that perseverance does not always look like pushing through.
Sometimes it looks like staying present.
Seeking His face.
Learning His character.
Mirroring His response instead of reacting from fear.

I keep thinking about the story of Jesus in the storm. The storm was real. The danger was real. The fear was real. But Jesus was not frantic. He was not hurried. He rested. And then He spoke.

That has been reshaping how I understand authority.

Faith is necessary in storms.
So is peace.

Peace allows us to see clearly.
Peace keeps our actions rooted in truth instead of fear.
Peace prevents us from becoming what we are trying to resist.

What Choosing Peace Means:

This does not mean disengaging.

It does not mean silence.

It does not mean ignoring injustice, pain, or suffering.

It means tending to the inner ground we are standing on so that whatever we say or do next comes from courage, wisdom, and love—rather than panic, despair, or rage.

In times like these, choosing peace is not passive. It is an act of spiritual resistance.

It is how we refuse to let fear have the final word.

Peace is not the absence of storms. It is the presence of God within them.

So if you feel unsettled this week.
If your emotions feel close to the surface.
If you are trying to discern how to respond without losing yourself.

You are not weak. You are human.

You are allowed to pause.
You are allowed to breathe.
You are allowed to seek God's truth before taking your next step.

This Week, I Am Choosing:

  • To lead from peace, not pressure
  • To act from courage, not panic
  • To trust that God can hold both my grief and my calling

I surrender control. I choose inner order. And I trust God to guide what comes next.
